NAME
almenable - Enable and disable dial out and SNMP alarm origination.
SYNOPSIS
almenable [-d[b|f|n]] [-s[y|n]] ] | [-?]
DESCRIPTION
Set the alarming strategy for dial out and SNMP.
- no parameters
- Display the administered information: dial out alarm origination, and SNMP Alarm Origination.
- -d [n|f|b]
- Set dial out Alarm Origination.
n - neither (default) - disable alarming dialout. Alarm Origination does not occur; reports are not sent to either OSS number.
f - first only - Use only the first dial out number for alarming. Major and Minor alarms result in an automatic call to the first administered Operations Support System (OSS) telephone number.
b - both - Use both dial out phone numbers for alarming. Major and Minor alarms result in an automatic call to both administered Operations Support System (OSS) telephone numbers.
- -s [y|n]
- Set SNMP Alarm Origination.
y - yes (default). Setting this value to "yes" will enable alarming through SNMP.
n - no. Setting this value to "no" will disable alarming through SNMP.
- -?
- Display the command usage.
DIAGNOSTICS
If these values appear to be ignored, please run "productid", "almcall" and "almnotif" commands to verify that all pertinent parameters are set. The following errors may be produced:

- Error reading existing parameters
- This message is displayed when there is a problem reading the configuration file. Please try later. If the problem persists, please contact support.

- Invalid parameters entered
- To see what parameters the command will recognize, please type almenable -?
- 3
- The file is in use by someone else
- This message indicates that another person is attempting to modify the administration for alarming. Please try again later. If the problem persists, please contact support.

- You do not have permission to execute this command
- In order to modify alarm parameters, you must be a super user.

- Error saving parameters
- This error message indicates a problem with the configuration file. Please try later. If the problem persists, please contact support. To verify that the file is not corrupted, please run the command without parameters to display their values:

If the values are not displayed properly, the file may be corrupted. Please contact support.

- Invalid parameter for Dial Out Alarm Origination
- Dial Out Alarm Origination can be disabled (set to neither, (n)), sent to the first telephone number administered only (f) or to both telephone numbers (b).

- Invalid parameter for SNMP Alarm Origination
- Alarm origination to SNMP destinations can be enabled (set to (y)) or disabled (set to (n)).

- Unable to allocate a socket resource.
- This error message is displayed when the command could not allocate a system resource. Make sure all processes are up and running by the following command: statapp

- Unable to connect to the assigned socket.
- This message is displayed when the command could not connect to GMM process. Make sure GMM process is running by the following command: statapp

- Unable to send data on the assigned socket.
- This message is displayed when the request message can not be sent to GMM process. Make sure GMM process is running by the following command: statapp
